DEFRA Approved Stoves
A Defra approved stove is an industry term for an SE (smoke exempt) stove which has been approved to burn specific fuels in a smoke control area that would usually not be allowed - ie. wood.
Stove World's Defra-approved stoves cost a little more because we are required to put them through rigorous CE and smoke control tests at Kiwa Gastec in the UK.
Most of our Defra-approved wood burning multi-fuel stoves are available in non-Defra versions for a little less for properties outside a smoke control area. When ordering over the phone please specify that you require the Defra version. If not you may be sent the non-Defra unit.
